Want a meaningful career where you can make a difference? Edward Jones sounds perfect for you.
Collaboration. Autonomy. Opportunity. Words our headquarters associates use when talking about working at Edward Jones. Words that describe what it’s like being part of a firm where everyone is aligned toward a singular focus: serving the client. And everyone is working to make the firm better together – as they grow as individuals. If these words resonate with you, we should talk.
Job Overview
The Head of Distribution Marketing will play a critical role in shaping how Edward Jones supports its 20,000+ financial advisors in the field. This senior leader will design and execute the firm’s distribution marketing strategy, with a focus on advisor enablement, lead management, and market-level growth strategies.
This is not a traditional brand or performance marketing role. Instead, the Head of Distribution Marketing will build the tools, training programs, and frameworks that allow financial advisors to grow their practices, deepen client engagement, and capture new opportunities. The role requires a proven leader from the wealth management industry who has spent meaningful time in field-facing roles.
Responsibilities
Practice Management & Advisor Enablement
- Provide Experience-Based Marketing (EBM) thought leadership and develop strategy for all practice segments and advisor types.
- Design and execute programs that support both firm growth and practice management objectives, including product marketing, tool adoption, and asset-gathering trends.
- Develop advisor bootcamps, training programs, and turnkey marketing strategies for advisors to self-serve.
- Create and implement tailored marketing strategies for advisors across multiple practice models.
Market Management & Go-to-Market Strategy
- Define and deliver go-to-market strategies that support market management (MM) objectives.
- Build geographic and client-segment strategies (e.g., emerging wealth, next-gen investors, families).
- Ensure alignment between local market opportunities and firm-wide growth priorities.
Local Branch & Field Marketing
- Develop and manage intake and delivery processes for individual FA marketing strategies, providing consultation and recommendations.
- Lead and evolve the Differentiated Support / EJ Creative Suite program.
- Manage branch-level marketing channels and continuously evolve the marketing tool suite to enable advisors to self-direct local marketing campaigns.
- Equip branches to act on proactive insights delivered through Salesforce and other advisor desktop tools.
- Partner with Martech and Analytics/Insights to build dashboards that measure impact at the firm, market, segment, and branch level.
- Oversee third-party agency relationships for local execution, including SEO and paid search.
-
Lead Management
- Create the firm’s lead management framework, including lead scoring, prioritization, routing, and optimization.
- Integrate lead management processes with Salesforce and advisor desktop tools.
- Partner with Practice and Market Management on advisor change management and adoption.
- Build metrics dashboards to track lead flow, advisor engagement, and conversion.
-
Branch & Client Experience
- Define, orchestrate, and map the most critical advisor and client experiences to create a common definition of “Branch Experience” across the firm.
- Lead experience performance management, tracking outcomes of top experience journeys and embedding into business performance rhythms.
- Act as Experience Owner, leading cross-functional scrum teams to prioritize, plan, and optimize client and advisor experiences across digital, operational, and design functions.
- Direct DS&D resources toward initiatives that most significantly impact branch and client experience.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in financial services, with at least 8 years in a senior marketing or distribution leadership role in advisor-facing wealth management organizations (wirehouses, independent broker-dealers, RIA aggregators, or custodians with advisor platforms).
- Strong field credibility, with direct experience supporting financial advisors in practice management, distribution, or growth initiatives.
- Deep understanding of financial advisor business models, practice management, and field-facing marketing.
- Proven track record of building advisor enablement platforms, lead management frameworks, and field marketing tools.
- Demonstrated success in market segmentation, advisor growth strategies, and local marketing execution.
- Exposure to life insurance or annuities distribution a plus, if directly tied to advisor field growth.
- Strategic thinker with ability to translate firm-level growth objectives into actionable, field-facing programs.
- Adept at building systems and processes from the ground up, including lead management, advisor tools, and segmentation strategies.
- Skilled in interpreting regional and individual performance data to make marketing decisions, measure impact, and refine strategies; able to leverage AI and advanced analytics.
- Strong influencer who can bridge marketing, sales, practice management, compliance, and analytics.
- Change leader with proven ability to drive market and local innovation in a complex, matrixed environment.
- High EQ with the ability to partner effectively with senior executives, field leadership, and financial advisors.
- Ability to define and articulate a bold vision for branch experience, marketing strategy, and firm growth.

When it comes to your compensation, we want to be clear.
#1 Your performance drives your compensation – and we won’t limit it with earning caps. Not now, not ever.
#2 Our compensation is competitive and multi-faceted. Commissions and trimester bonuses – based on individual branch and firm profitability – make up the bulk of your variable income. But your total payout may include travel awards and profit sharing. And the opportunity to be rewarded for transitioning client relationships to financial advisors looking to grow.
#3 Our compensation is simple and transparent. We make it easy to understand how you are rewarded and strive to minimize grid changes. You know exactly what to expect and how to impact your results.
Our partnership structure frees you to focus on your clients.
Being a partnership makes us distinctly different from our competitors. More than a structure, it’s a mindset. And it permeates every aspect of our business. From how we work with each other – think collaboration not competition – to our long-term investment philosophy. It’s most at work in our shared focus on doing what’s right for the client. And it’s easy for us to do. Because we have no competing interests. No shareholders clamoring for short-term profits. We can take the long view, because we only answer to our clients. And to ourselves. Our financial advisors find this single-minded focus freeing. A clear mandate for success. And a clear path to get there.

Transitioning your practice is a difficult decision.
We’re here to help.
Moving your practice to another firm may be the most stressful decision of your professional life. We understand. And our transition team is here to help. From early days when you are just beginning to consider the opportunity. To that glorious first day of opening your practice. And our support is not one-size-fits-all. We will tailor your transition to you and your practice – with you leading the way. Ensuring a smooth transition for you and your clients. And a solid path forward for next-level growth.
