Job Overview
Team Overview:
The Wealth Management & Field Management (WMFM) First Line Risk Management team plays a critical role in safeguarding Edward Jones’ Wealth Management and Field Management businesses by embedding enterprise risk management principles directly into day‑to‑day operations. As the firm continues to evolve its products, services, and delivery models, this team serves as a key partner to business leadership—helping identify, assess, and manage risks in a proactive, consistent, and enterprise‑aligned manner. This is an opportunity to lead a highly impactful team at the center of the firm’s First Line of Defense, influencing outcomes across a complex and interconnected business.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will lead the WMFM Product Risk Team, overseeing the execution of first‑line risk management activities and serving as a primary risk partner to senior leaders across Wealth Management and Field Management. Your day‑to‑day work will involve balancing people leadership with hands‑on oversight of risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and remediation activities across WMFM‑owned products, services, and initiatives.
You will guide the application of enterprise risk frameworks, ensure high‑quality risk data and reporting, and collaborate closely with Business Owners, other First Line Risk teams, and the Second Line of Defense to drive consistent, effective risk execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead divisional execution of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program, including WMFM‑specific risk requirements.
- Provide direct people leadership for a team of up to eight associates, including performance management and development.
- Partner with senior WMFM leaders to deliver clear risk insights, challenge risk decisions, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Oversee identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and escalation of risks across WMFM products, services, and processes.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of risk data used for assessments, reporting, and governance.
- Monitor open risk issues and action plans, including escalation of past‑due or high‑risk items.
- Review and challenge remediation plans and supporting evidence for effectiveness and sustainability.
- Utilize and support the evolution of GRC tools to document and evidence first‑line risk activities.
Skills/Requirements
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience within financial services, risk management, governance, compliance, audit, or related control functions.
- 5+ years of experience related to risk management, business operations, or control execution.
- Prior people leadership experience with direct management responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience applying Enterprise Risk Management frameworks within a First Line of Defense.
- Experience identifying, assessing, managing, and escalating risks, including issue management and remediation oversight.
- Working knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools and risk reporting methodologies.
- FINRA Series 7 license, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
What Could Set You Apart
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent).
- Professional risk or finance certifications (e.g., CRISC, CRCM, CPA, CIA, FRM).
- Direct experience supporting Wealth Management, advisor‑led, or field‑based distribution models.
- Experience leading or presenting in risk governance, executive committees, or regulatory forums.
- Prior experience working closely with Second Line of Defense risk functions.
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations applicable to Wealth Management and Field Management businesses.

When it comes to your compensation, we want to be clear.
#1 Your performance drives your compensation – and we won’t limit it with earning caps. Not now, not ever.
#2 Our compensation is competitive and multi-faceted. Commissions and trimester bonuses – based on individual branch and firm profitability – make up the bulk of your variable income. But your total payout may include travel awards and profit sharing. And the opportunity to be rewarded for transitioning client relationships to financial advisors looking to grow.
#3 Our compensation is simple and transparent. We make it easy to understand how you are rewarded and strive to minimize grid changes. You know exactly what to expect and how to impact your results.
Our partnership structure frees you to focus on your clients.
Being a partnership makes us distinctly different from our competitors. More than a structure, it’s a mindset. And it permeates every aspect of our business. From how we work with each other – think collaboration not competition – to our long-term investment philosophy. It’s most at work in our shared focus on doing what’s right for the client. And it’s easy for us to do. Because we have no competing interests. No shareholders clamoring for short-term profits. We can take the long view, because we only answer to our clients. And to ourselves. Our financial advisors find this single-minded focus freeing. A clear mandate for success. And a clear path to get there.

Transitioning your practice is a difficult decision.
We’re here to help.
Moving your practice to another firm may be the most stressful decision of your professional life. We understand. And our transition team is here to help. From early days when you are just beginning to consider the opportunity. To that glorious first day of opening your practice. And our support is not one-size-fits-all. We will tailor your transition to you and your practice – with you leading the way. Ensuring a smooth transition for you and your clients. And a solid path forward for next-level growth.

Investing in You
As a valued branch-team member, you will share in the success of your branch – and the firm. Our market competitive compensation program recognizes your individual contributions, promotes a long-term career, contributes to your financial security and promotes the well-being of you and your family.
